GreenE-Board™ is an ecological alternative to gypsum,
wood, and cement based building products.
It is designed to be used as a
finished wall panel or under tile, stone or sheetgoods as a Cementitious
Backer Unit (CBU) for floors, walls, and countertops. It is designed to be
used in wet or dry areas or where fire ratings are important.
Cement and cement by-products used in building products are consumed
in large quantities around the world. Cement is a leading contributor
to CO2 emissions which have been linked to global warming and other
green house effects. A ton of CO2 gas is emitted into the atmosphere
for every ton of cement produced!
We feel that there is an urgent need to find sustainable alternate
sources that reduce this threat by introducing innovative technology
in construction.
The recent emergence of eco-friendly cements that use magnesium oxide
(MgO) as a base has allowed for different applications that were not
available in mainstream distribution in the United States. These cements
provide a unique alternative to produce durable and cost effective
cements that can incorporate a large proportion of waste materials
with better bonding strengths than traditional Portland based cements.
